Jim McDonald - a real gentleman

Jim McDonald, has been highly honoured for his work in the voluntary sector. Among his many awards and titles, he is a CBE, a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order –presented for services to the Royal Family – a Justice of the Peace and a former Deputy Lieutenant for the County Borough of Belfast. Unusually, his efforts have also been acknowledged by the Pope, who made him a Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory and a Knight Commander of the Order of The Holy Sepulchre. He told us about some of the RVO recipients he had met over the years at the bi-annual church ceremony at Windsor, who had given outstanding service in life-threatening circumstances. He is justifiably very proud to have been honoured in this way, and is one of only seventeen members at various levels of the award in Northern Ireland.
